Wardrobe fit for a fashionista

Tania needs somewhere to store her one pair of shoes... time to build her a wardrobe!

You need a box that opens on one side, pieces of cardboard or plywood cut to the depth of the box for the shelves, paint or duct tape to decorate it and a stick to make the railing for hanging clothes.

I had a shitty time - I chose a box that seemed durable and sturdy, however the label was impossible to paint over. In the end I had to cover the bloody thing in paper and paint the paper instead. Then my duct tape wouldn't stick properly. So the final product isn't exactly what I was going for :/

I went for the combination of blue and zebra print :D

Originally, I'd intended to hang a mirror in a zebra frame on the inside of the door. I even made one... However, due to the fact that I ended up covering the box in paper which had to be taped down... I ended up with zebra tape where the mirror should be.

I used an old mirror and cut out a frame from cardboard, then covered it in duct tape , then secured the mirror from the back with tape and a sheet of paper. I guess it will end up hanging on the wall since it can no longer go inside the wardrobe...

Back to the wardrobe, time to stick in the shelves and the railing...

Cute vase 2 + bonus spoon

We had a pee cup... so it's only right if we use a fecal sample jar now! :D
Let's turn it into a cute vase... and bonus: a spoon :)

Cute vase

From a lip balm lid and some coloured paper you can easily make a cute vase. Fill it with fresh flowers in season - or you could use fake flowers, feathers or painted twigs instead.

Trendy seat

From pee cup to trendy seat? Easy :D You just need 2 pieces of material, a pee cup and some round cotton pads. I used a piece of black leather and a pink microfibre cloth.

For the base cut out a circle slightly bigger than the bottom of the cup and glue it onto the bottom and sides.
Then dab some glue on the cup and roll it up in a bigger piece of material, then cut off the excess. Fold a little of the material into cup and glue to the inside of the rim.

For the cushy seat - cut out a circle a lot bigger than the lid. Place the cotton pads in between the material and lid to get that soft cushion effect. Fold the excess of the material onto the sides and inside of the lid, gluing it on securely. Voila!

Preparations

Preparations taking place! So happy I got some supplies for my nameday!

The first doll

So to have a reference to work off of, I had to buy a doll...
I  didn't buy a Barbie because...
1) I'm broke
2) I don't know which Barbie Basia would want the most
3) I didn't have time to research the subject and choose one that I would like :P

In the end I bought the CHEAPEST 11 1/2 inch doll.

Check out this "beauty"

Unfortunately I didn't notice that this tacky tarty elegant ladycan't bend her legs at the knees, which is making the testing of seat heights a little more challenging. She also forgot to put on panties before leaving the house - I've opened the 'Let's buy Tania some panties fund' - donations are welcome :P
She also has a permanent bad hair day...

But hell, at least I HAVE a doll now. Her name is Tania, like I already mentioned. 'Tania' means cheap in Polish... and that's exactly what she is, literally and metaphorically speaking :D Her catchphrase is:

'Hi, I'm Tania. Don't laugh, I only cost $1.50. My furniture is also cheap but it looks like a million bucks (unlike me).'

She has a good sense of humour, this chick :)

The future dollhouse

My baby daughter is only 6 months old, but we're already planning to build her a dollhouse for her 3rd birthday. The store-bought ones aren't that cute - the walls have painted-on stuff that isn't there and the furniture is tacky and plastic. Our house is going to be clean and tidy and unique and we're going to make as much of it as interactive as possible.

My head is full of ideas. I can already picture Barbie reading mini-books or poruing cereal into a bowl, taking a real bubble bath or doing some real gardening - the possibilities are endless :)

When I imagine my daughter seeing the house for the very first time, her look or astonishment and amazement, not being able to take everything in at once, I get tears in her eyes. This is probably more exviting for me than for her, LOL.

I've started to gather my materials- recyclables, decorations, arts and crafts supplies...

This weekend I'm going to start making my first piece and will I report on it here. Maybe this will inspire You to make something for your child as well... or spend some quality time with them and build it together....
